gingrich. he's going to be with us onset. also senator mccaskill whose opponent last night said she just wasn't lady like enough. boy, that will help you with the swing voters in missouri. also former white house secretary dee dee myers and nbc news political director and soon to be former miami hurricanes fan chuck todd. up next "political playbook" and don't miss willie's week in review. it will make your weekend in three minutes. first bill karins with a check of the weekend forecast. >> it's going to be a little transition, joe. we're watching rain moving through areas of new england and the mid-atlantic this morning making for a messy, slow morning commute especially in new england. then we'll slowly clear it out for much of the weekend. look at the radar this morning. this is a large covering shield of rain from the hudson valley of new york down through massachusetts, connecticut and pushing into areas of new hampshire. so it's going to be a wet morning for the kids at the bus stop and everyone else heading to work this morning. philadelphia south wards to d.c. and even new york c
of republicans, newt gingrich, for example, saying, hey, mitt romney, get out there, pick a fight, and win it. jim acosta with me now from the romney campaign. the debate, of course, tomorrow night in denver, you, sir, are in littleton, colorado. should we take mitt romney at face value when he says this debate is not about me winning? >> reporter: well, brooke, i think this is all part of the debate expectations game that has been going on for several days now. i think you also sort of heard mitt romney downplay some of the talk that has been going on since the new york times reported over the weekend that, you know, mitt romney is preparing all the zingers for the debate and you heard people saying maybe he's not preparing zingers. a lot of this is the head fake to the head fake to the head fake. of course, mitt romney and the president are both probably working on lines of attack that they'll deliver at this debate. that is sort of standard operating procedure. you saw that scott brown, elizabeth warren debate last night in massachusetts. this is what campaigns do. this is what candidates
saw this during the republican primary. he faced a challenge from newt gingrich, he won. he faced a challenge from rick perry. people would say hey, this is a do-or-die debate. mitt romney must prove he can deliver the knockout blow, and he did do it in the debates time and time again. >> he did look very presidential in that group. we'll see how he does next to president obama which i think is a little bit different. >> yeah. >> that ohio poll is interesting because the cbs one we had last week had it at ten points. now we have another one showing it at nine points. if you start to look at the map, if he doesn't take iowa, if it gets away from him, it becomes difficult to put a puzzle together to win. >> by the way, there has been this narrative that there is the grand conspiracy and that the polls are skewed. this is what walter mondale said in 1984. this is what moveon.org said in 2004, that all the polls were skewed against john kerry and moveon.org said you just wait. and now you're hearing it frantically on the other side, which ironically, again, they are putting fox news i
reagan was good at that, newt gingrich was good at turning the tables on questions this primary season. mitt romney would like to have some of that. that's not really his strong suit. the second best thing for mitt romney would be a major gaffe by president obama, so perhaps mitt romney could goad the president a little bit into some comments about small business other thans or something else. owners or something else. because the race is close enough that any change could have an impact. but, cheryl, historically debates have not moved the numbers all that much. four years ago when barack obama debated john mccain, mccain was down by five points when he went into his debate, and when he came out of the debate, he was down by six points. virtually no change. i think events on the ground, perceptions of the economy, economic news, perhaps things from the middle east still could have a bigger impact than these debates. cheryl: scott rasmussen, it's fascinating to see what your numbers are showing us, and they have been changing over the last several weeks. scott, thank you. >> thank you,
? some people say yes including newt gingrich. >> hillary clinton is a serious problem. and barack obama is ambitious person. they are different. hillary clinton gets up every day thinking of public policy. barack obama gets up every day thinking about bark obama . very different approaches to life. i think those of us who are critics need to understand this is who is president. this is a man who in the age of false celebrity hood is a perfect president because he is a false president. he doesn't do the job. he said 39 percent of the briefings and intelligence, he goes to las vegas while there is an attack going on in benghazi. >> if you watch the president you notice he saw the foreign service that chris stevens our ambassador who murdered provided to the united nations and united states as well he talked glowingly of mr. stevens. it is odd that the day he was murdered mr. obama did the fund raising event on the day of the murder. >> brian: i thought it was interesting he said he was a christian and that was news to madonna who called him a black muslim. we are not sure. the speech was
